ABOUT US

Espacio KB: art, music, and independent community

in Bogotá

Espacio KB is an independent cultural center founded in 2015 in Bogotá and a pioneer in the consolidation of the San Felipe Art District. In 2025 it celebrates its tenth anniversary as an essential hub for the city’s cultural life, recognized for its ability to bring together art, music, film, and critical thought in one place.

More than a venue, KB is a cultural and social laboratory that reinvests all its efforts into sustaining a continuous and diverse program: over 70 exhibitions, a film club, radio, publications, educational processes, concerts, and DJ sets that have defined Bogotá’s independent scene.

Laboratory of music and counterculture

One of KB’s strongest focuses has been its contribution to the electronic and experimental music scene. It has served as a space for training, circulation, and exchange, hosting impactful projects such as:

  • Club Raum Berlin – Goethe Institut (2016): exhibition on electronic music, photography, and the history of Berlin’s iconic clubs.

  • Nuits Sonores (2017–2019): KB became the Bogotá headquarters of the renowned French festival, a hub for exchanges between local and international artists.

  • DJ School for vulnerable communities (2022–2024): a pedagogical process that opened creative possibilities for new generations.

  • BIME (2023–2025): as host of the international festival, KB fostered dialogue between the music industry, emerging artists, and diverse audiences.

  • BOmm – Bogotá Music Market (2024–2025): KB hosted showcases and meetings, consolidating itself as a bridge between music, culture, and society in Bogotá.

Artists and collectives such as Lydia Lunch, Eduard Escoffet, Ajo & Judith Farrés, Rebotini, and Red Light Radio have passed through KB. In 2021, during the Colombian protests, Red Light Radio recorded an LP at KB as a sonic testimony of social resistance.

Art,

experimentation,

and reflection

KB’s exhibition hall has served as a laboratory of interdisciplinary practices, welcoming both established and emerging artists.

In 2020, during the global crisis, it transformed into an international artist residency and a digital platform for podcasts, live streams, and virtual gatherings, expanding the KB community beyond Bogotá.

  • Marcelo Brodsky (Argentina): a leading artist in the fields of memory and social protest worldwide, whose work connects local struggles with global movements.

  • Pablo Helguera (Mexico–USA): a critic and artist who explores cultural mediation with humor, irony, and reflections on reality.

  • Viviana Peretti (Italy–Colombia): a photographer committed to the defense of human rights and the visibility of vulnerable communities.

  • Cecilia Sammarco (Italy): an artist with motor disabilities who has turned her practice into a vital act of resistance and creation.

  • Nora Renaud (Switzerland–Colombia): an explorer of sculpture and installation as territories to question power and history.

  • Rosana Escobar & Santiago Lemus (Colombia): part of a generation of local artists who, through experimentation, give voice to the country’s social and cultural tensions.

These and many other exhibitions have consolidated KB as a space for critical, inclusive, and experimental art, capable of connecting local scenes with international discourses, becoming a reference point for artistic reflection in Bogotá and across Latin America.

A living

and versatile space

KB has a capacity of 250 people, distributed across:

  • Exhibition hall: with more than 70 shows held.

  • Ground floor: KB bar, artist object shop, patio with tables, mixed bathrooms, and an area for presentations and DJ sets.

  • Second floor: covered terrace, bar room, mixed bathrooms, and a projection room that functions as a Cine Klub and karaoke space.

With a professional sound system, projectors, 5.1 surround sound, Yamaha console, DJ rider, and a basic setup for live bands, KB adapts to multiple formats, making it a unique venue in Bogotá.

Today

Espacio KB is a nucleus of cultural resistance and one of the most influential independent spaces in Bogotá. Its history is also the history of the San Felipe neighborhood, which found in KB a driving force for transformation, and in the city, a free, diverse, and vital space for art and culture.

Espacio KB is not just a place: it is a community. Every project, every gathering, every DJ set, and every exhibition is energy that fuels Bogotá’s independent culture.

Our Team.
